These drums are made in a medieval style, with rope-stitched drumskins and an adjustable gut snare. They are ideal for medieval re-enactment.

The drumshells we use are very thin, so the drums are very light to carry for long periods of time. The ropes we use are synthetic hemp, which keeps its tension when wet. Any change in tension of the rawhide skin due to heat and dampness can be adjusted using the sliding buffs on the sides of the drums.

Handmade for us by our blacksmith and coated with our beeswax, these are based on designs from medieval iconography. They have a closed bar structure rather than having the gap as seen in modern triangles, and this, along with the rings, gives a nice clangy sound.

We make all our tabor pipes and whistles from boxwood, and their simple style makes them ideal for use in medieval re-enactment and folk music.

We've taken a break from making these in the last year, but will be making more in 2009.
